From September 23 to 29 you could visit the world´s largest ship at the quay of Langelinie in Copenhagen. More than 42,000 people visited  the giant and we went there as well.

This ship belongs to Maersk Line- the global container division and the largest operating unit of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group, a Danish business conglomerate. Moreover,  the Maersk Line is the world’s largest container shipping company.

This huge ship is 400 meters long, 59 meters wide, 73 meters high and accommodates more than 18,000 20-foot containers.  For your imagination, it is almost as long as four football fields. Besides it is the largest ship in the world, is it also the most environmentally improved as its innovative design sets new standards for resuse of material and reduction of CO2 emissions by more than 50% per container moved, compared to the industry average CO2 performance on the Asia-Europe trade.

The ship was opened to the public from September 25 and in the exhibition area visitors could learn about the container shipping in world trade, as well as about the variety of items shipped in containers. Moreover, visitors could test their skills as a captain in a vessel simulator. The visit of the ship was free of charge, but a reservation was needed to be done online in advance.

The ship left Copenhagen late at night on September 29 and was heading towards Gothenburg.
